Back to the Sandy Land!
Welcome SuMmEr!! I couldn’t believe it’s here again. The horrendous heat is going to wipe me dry and all cooked up! Am I able to survive once more?? …. *Looking out from the window*… my heart sank. This is definitely not a day to welcome me back and trying to convince me to stay here for long.
Anyway, I’m in a good mood so the weather isn’t going to ruin it. And I’m still going OUT later!! Have to make myself tired so that I can sleep before my flight tonight. Why in good mood right? Shouldn’t I be grumpy and homesick? Hmm… postpone date of submission for an assignment(suppose to be due today), got on the flight back, everyone’s in Dubai, might have a sin flt next week, able to extend my leave, chocolates in one hand and the other with a tv controller, music blasting in the background, n now hugging my labby…How can I be grumpy??!?! =p
Well, this morning a Bangladesh taxi driver drove me home. We had a nice little chat. Yah, I’ll chat only with NICE apnns and it’s actually very amusing when talking to them. Allowing me to ‘understand’ them better interactively and culturally. You never know someday their topic might be useful. Haha.. I’ve deal with them all the time in work. *gosh!* Reminds me of tonight…Nightmares!
We are talking about Dubai and family. He’s in Dubai for 18 years and only gone back twice. His wife and kid(s) are in India. He ‘loves’ Dubai but I think it’s not what he really meant. Maybe over here he’s able to earn more thus able to send it to his family. His kid(s) is able to go to school and are well-fed. He is working for his family and future. But if you ask a crew, most of them will not say Dubai is the place for them. Usually crew will only stay for one contract (3-yrs) the most. Hmm… this let me think about their point of view from different people different background.
This reminds me of a Kenya crew, told by Jane. Her story really brings tears to my eyes. She is still an economy crew at that time, had a husband and son back in Kenya. Both she n her husband was from Kenya airways and that’s how they got together as well. She got into Emirates and moved to Dubai leaving her husband and son back home. Her husband resigned as well and took up an accountancy course. For the past two years, she never buys anything for anyone not even herself or decorations for the house etc. Whatever she earned she’ll sent it back to her husband. Never question her husband about the money. But on her side she pinch and save just for a guy’s pride. She wanted him to feel secure with money in the pockets while studying. Whenever he vents his anger on her, she did not grumble. Well, she doesn’t go back home that frequently (unlike me). They’ve build a house and rented it out and now building one more for themselves. After two years, finally she’s able to buy some things for her son and her first skirt. Her husband is now working and earning pretty good or even better than her. And she’s going to resign soon to go back to her family. She tells herself and her husband that she’s working for their present by opening the path and her husband is working for their future leading down the path. Oh my god, it touches me so much! Thou it’s just a simple daily life story but the meaning inside it are so much. Love, Trust, Hope, Strength…
dreams,
salute!!
well, i guess my pictures will tell all….
